We would like to introduce you to the June Shelton School, a private non-profit PreK-12 provider and one of our valued partners! For over 35 years, the Shelton School has delivered quality education for learning-different kids. Teachers are highly trained and work in small classes with a 6:1 student-teacher ratio in order to provide the necessary attention each student deserves. Through highly structured, multisensory, and individualized approaches, Shelton ensures that students’ challenges – from ADHD, to dyslexia, to speech disorders – are addressed and that students’ strengths are harnessed and nurtured to the fullest. Along with required academic subjects, the curriculum includes emphasis on athletics, the arts, community engagement, social development, and self-esteem to mold well-rounded young members of the community. In addition to the school, Shelton’s North Dallas complex includes an evaluation center, training center, and speech clinic, which conduct research and provide services such as testing and tutoring for the surrounding area. Our team here at Commit! looks forward to working with the Shelton School in the future!
Boone Family Foundation:
Please take a moment to appreciate the amazing contributions of one of our partners, The Boone Family Foundation! For six years, The Boone Family Foundation has been a valuable resource for innovation and social change in the Dallas community. It provides grants to programs that advance equity for women and girls, improve quality of life for children, and promote environmental stewardship through systematic change. They have supported recent local initiatives such as the literacy-focused Reading Partners, the education advocacy group Stand for Children, and the innovative science-teaching techniques of Leaders in Science. We thank The Boone Family Foundation and look forward to seeing what future initiatives they bring to life in our community!
Please say hello to CitySquare, a Commit! partner that has fought the roots of poverty in Dallas for 25 years! CitySquare works with neighbors on the ground to facilitate a broad range of community programs: They address hunger through their Food on the Move initiative and Food Pantry and Resource Center, aid in access to health care through the Community Health Services program, provide housing and support classes for the homeless, and give hope to individuals through access to legal and employment services. We are grateful for CitySquare’s outstanding service to over 53,000 Texans every year, and look forward to our continued partnership!
